If you're a Central Texas local, and love pigs, we'd be honored for you to participate in our Volunteer Program. Our volunteers are the backbone of our organization, and help us with maintaining the grounds, providing for the animals, and giving them tons of love! CTPR is a 100% volunteer-run organization, so every single volunteer we have is a valued, critical member of our team.
OPEN VOLUNTEER DAY: This day is intended for people who are not ready to commit to being a regular volunteer. It's an opportunity to come out, meet pigs, scoop some poop, and get a feel for what we do. This is not a tour, but very much a work day! An Open Volunteer Day does not qualify as training to be a part of our Animal Care Team. JOINING OUR VOLUNTEER ANIMAL CARE TEAM: Our regular volunteers are responsible for helping with nearly every aspect of animal care-taking. They're hard working, love the animals, and aren't afraid to get dirty. If you want to become a regular member of our Volunteer Animal Care Team, you must first complete at least one Open Volunteer Day and a Volunteer Orientation to learn the basics of day-to-day operations, sanctuary etiquette, systems and expectations. Once you attend an Orientation, you'll be able to sign up on our calendar and come out whenever your schedule allows.
Please note: We are very VERY eager to fill our calendar with regular, consistent volunteers. If you're able to commit to coming out a few days each month, please speak up and let us know! Volunteer Days and Orientations are 3 hour work days intended to help prepare participants for helping with the daily care of the animals. Please come prepared to work and wearing proper attire and footwear!
Thank you for wanting to be a part of our organization on the ground. We, and the pigs, look forward to meeting you!
All volunteer event registrations open about 2 weeks before the scheduled date, and are always announced on social media. Our next Open Volunteer Day will be February 8. Our upcoming Volunteer Orientations (for those looking to be trained as consistent members of our Volunteer Animal Care Team who have already attended an Open Volunteer Day) are January 26 and February 22.
