WELCOME TO THE ENCHANTED PIG FOREST

FOREST OVER FARMS

On October 1, 2021, after over a year of fundraising and months of prepping our blank-canvas property, we began the migration of our residents. From the moment they stepped foot on the new land, we’ve seen the most incredible sparks of adventure, creativity, curiosity, and joy. We’ve seen the Oakwood residents (saved in the Caldwell seizure) become “urban planners,” carving distinct pathways and routes. We’ve watched our Big Kids nest under gorgeous canopies of Beautyberry bushes. We witnessed Primrose collect dozens of beautiful branches to decorate her cabin. We’ve seen friendships blossom between Piggy Sue & Penelope. We’ve met many wild armadillo friends. We’ve seen our residents showcase who they truly are in a habitat designed for them.

If you’ve followed our journey, you know how daunting it was, the incredible scope of accomplishments, and how far we still have to go. We’ve prioritized our resident’s safety, comfort, and acclimation above all, putting our human needs on the back burner. Now, our attention is turning towards making this space more human-friendly to support our volunteer Animal Care Team, live-in animal caretakers, and visitors. We know that to uphold excellence as caretakers, we must be our best selves, and our facilities must support that.

Portals to adventure

Pigs are orderly, organized, and terrific “urban planners.” We have pathways all over the forest that are made by the residents and followed consistently. This one, in the Oakwood Ridge neighborhood, is a true favorite and feels like a journey into a magical land.
