meet our residents

Their story is our story.

Our rescue stories are a tremendous source of pride for us, but we know that for every pig rescued, countless others across the country suffer in similar ways at the hands of people. The residents of CTPR inspire humans everyday with their resilience, trust, forgiveness, humor, strength, and commitment to survival. Rescuing animals is a labor of love filled with much sadness, joy, catharsis, disappointment and catharsis.

The residents of CTPR have been saved from abuse, neglect, slaughter, abandonment, and animal testing. Over half of our residents come from two similar situations of

neglect and abuse - breeders who became overrun with pigs, and then stopped giving them what they needed to survive. In these situations the pigs are often inbred and suffer from tremendous congenital issues. The rest of our residents come from local animal control, the ASPCA, activists, animal testing - all situations in which they were didn't have any other options. For many of our residents, we can't imagine the horrors they witnessed and endured. Rehabilitating these pigs has been both physical and emotional for them, and for many, there is still work to be done.
